YORK – At least $1 million in cash was discovered inside a tractor-trailer Friday afternoon during a routine inspection along the turnpike. Maine State Police said they found the stash of cash after detaining the driver and a passenger while they examined driver logs. In a desperate publicity stunt that made him look like a crackpot, Vice President Joe Biden touted a fraud-infested welfare program to make low-income houses energy efficient as an example of success in stimulus spending. Flashing his trademark capped teeth during a press conference in New Hampshire, the vice president had the audacity to promote the scandal-plagued weatherization program as a great stimulus-funded effort despite the documented fraud and corruption that has surrounded the disastrous endeavor nationwide. Tens of millions of taxpayer dollars have so far been lost because there’s virtually no oversight of the $5 billion program which is...

WASHINGTON – Texas has mainly provided a thorn in Barack Obama's side. The governor taunts him. The senators defy him. He lost the state by nearly 1 million votes in 2008. When the president lands today to raise campaign cash in Austin and Dallas, even the Democratic nominee for governor will make himself scarce. Yet many Texas Democrats are thrilled. Some are encouraging Obama to take the party's Bush-bashing theme to a new level, by pressing the case against the former president's policies on his home turf. Others are simply grateful for the rare attention, even though most of the...

Huge Debt Levels In “Cash-Rich” Corporate America By Rocky Vega 08/06/10 Alexandria, Virgina — For some time now pundits, and to some extent politicians, have been trumpeting the mountains of cash US corporations have sitting on the sidelines just waiting for ripe opportunity and that, in one fell swoop, could seemingly restore the economy. However, an article this week questions where the cash has actually coming from, and whether it’s as readily deployable as has been suggested. According to MarketWatch: “American companies are not in robust financial shape. Federal Reserve data show that their debts have been rising, not falling....

"My discussions with Republican strategists and conservative House-watchers yielded a list of 20 races in which this quarter’s donations are most likely to prove decisive. In many cases, these challengers have actually demonstrated some significant fundraising ability; they just have the bad luck to go up against incumbents — often long-established, powerful Democrats on key committees — who are sitting on small fortunes. Their districts are often conservative-leaning, they have demonstrated real charisma and energy, and in many cases the early polling is favorable."
